RFinity solves two key problems in the mobile commerce market. First, mobile handsets
are just as vulnerable to attacks as PC’s are. With RFinity’s hardware security
module in a microSD form factor, critical transaction processes can be physically
isolated from main handset memory. This increases the level of difficulty of hackers
to compromise the transaction, whether through skimming or spoofing attacks.
Second, mobile phone networks are just as vulnerable to compromise as the greater
internet. RFinity’s security architecture uses one-time-use codes and complex cryptographic
signatures to assure that every transaction code can only be used once. Even if
the transaction is intercepted, the code is worth nothing to the attacker.
RFinity also adds a new communications channel to handsets. Mobile handsets with
a microSD slot can use the Near Field Communications capabilities of RFinity to
perform person-to-person transactions in a fast, convenient and secure way that
eliminates the wait times associated with SMS-based mobile payment systems.
RFinity Conquers M-Commerce Weaknesses
Before RFinity, M-commerce was dependent on security and transaction technologies
adapted from the outdated magnetic strip credit card industry, from Near Field Communication
(NFC) technologies designed for product tracking, and from mobile phone technologies
that were never engineered for the level of security necessary to conduct financial
transactions.
Not any more.
RFinity’s founders—recognizing that security measures needed to address these vulnerabilities
for m- commerce to flourish—attacked those weaknesses with innovative technology
that will raise user confidence that their personal information will remain secure
and confidential and push m-commerce into everyday use.
